FLOW
2024

The Flow is a design solution dedicated to the domestic space, creating a unique aesthetic fusion that balances the formal simplicity and functionality of Scandinavian design with minimalist elements from Japanese design. This functional design is sculpted through pure forms, drawn with thin and fluid lines, rounded intersections, and smooth curves. These elements come together to create an elegant harmony and an inviting appearance, ensuring maximum comfort for the user
THE IDEA

In the furniture market, most products are not designed considering the principles of modular design. As a consequence, when they reach the end of their useful life, many of them are replaced by new products. The reason for this replacement lies in the inherent difficulty of repairing or replacing damaged components. Unfortunately, this practice results in the disposal of these products in landfills, thereby missing opportunities for recycling.

Flow Chair distinguishes itself from traditional products through its easy assembly and disassembly, offering accessibility to any user. This design not only simplifies maintenance, repair, and refurbishment, thereby extending the product’s lifespan significantly, but also enables the recycling of components, promoting a sustainable approach within the furniture industry.
The modular design of the Flow chair primarily focuses on sustainability, durability, longevity, and ease of maintenance. This approach allows for the disassembly, cleaning, or replacement of all chair components, ensuring not only the possibility of repairs over the years but also the feasibility of refurbishment or recycling. This approach aims to extend the product’s lifespan while contributing to waste reduction.
DEVELOPMENT

The development process of the chair involved exploring various sketches to conceive its form, followed by detailed 3D modeling to refine the intricacies of the design. The creation of prototypes at a 1:5 scale provided a tangible understanding of proportions and ergonomics, facilitating additional refinements.

The primary goal of the development was to achieve a modular design to ensure versatility and adaptability. This approach not only enhances the chair’s functionality but also streamlines production. The incorporation and unique combination of materials contribute to a hybrid design, adding a distinctive aesthetic element while ensuring that the chair seamlessly integrates into different environments.
DESIGN

Functional design is evident in the details drawn with fluid and organic shapes, smooth curves, and rounded intersections, ensuring comfort, harmony, elegance, and refined ergonomics. These fluid forms come together seamlessly to create armrests, which are the most functional and notable detail of the chair.
CMF Design

In this project, yellow and blue symbolizes joy, optimism, and creativity, evoking vitality and energy. In the Niyang River Visitor Center, created by Zhaoyang Architects in partnership with Standardarchitecture, yellow stands out as an invitation to innovation. Its use not only enhances visual beauty but also conveys enthusiasm, highlighting how color is more than an aesthetic element, it’s a form of expression and communication.

The color beige carries a symbolic connotation that refers to a series of meanings. Generally associated with simplicity, neutrality, and serenity, it conveys a discreet and soft nature that brings forth a sense of calmness, comfort, and stability. Beige is often linked to the idea of sophistication, elegance, and timelessness, commonly chosen to evoke a serene and welcoming ambiance. This neutral color is also seen as a symbol of practicality and versatility, serving as a backdrop that enhances other tones or design elements. Its soft and balanced presence can induce a feeling of harmony and tranquility, often adopted in various contexts to create a serene and inviting atmosphere.
